Gap Year: 50 Books

I've written about it before in other posts but I thought it was about time to address it directly. As part of my Gap Year Bucket List, I am aiming to read 50 books. I love reading but while I was in school I rarely had any time to sit down and read. I always had homework, a test to study for, or another commitment that I had to be at. That was why, when I was writing my Gap Year Bucket List, I decided I wanted to challenge myself to read more. I'm not going to lie, I definitely overestimated how many books I was going to be able to read every month... I am not really on track to meet my 50 book quota but it's been really fun to challenge myself to read more anyway. It also forces me to put some quiet time aside where I can take a break and chill for a bit. Here are the books I've read so far (and all of them have been really good):
  1. Unfuck Your Brain by Faith G. Harper
  2. Half the Sky by Nicholas D Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn
  3. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
  4. The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert
  5. What Made Maddy Run by Kate Fagan
  6. Born to Run by Christopher McDougall
  7. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
  8. Let's Pretend This Never Happened by Jenny Lawson
  9. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
  10. Pride and Prejudice (abridged) by Jane Austin
  11. The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris
  12. The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery
  13. Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman
  14. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time by Mark Haddon
  15. The Summoning by Kelly Armstrong
  16. The Awakening by Kelly Armstrong
  17. The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett
  18. Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan
  19. The Heart Goes Last by Margaret Atwood
So, those are the books I've read so far, and I really enjoyed reading them. The ones that I liked the most were Les Miserables, Born to Run,  Born a Crime, and the Heart Goes Last. They not only had good plots, but they were inspirational in some way or had really intricate literary features in it that I found really fun to analyse as I was reading.

This was just a short post today, but I'll keep you all updated as I read more. Let me know if you want any book suggestions or have any suggestions for me - I'm going to need a lot because I still have a while to go until I get to 50. Thanks for reading!
Here is a little hedgehog waving in case
you were having a bad day :)
