Best Pantomime? Oh Yes It Was!

So close to New Year's Eve, everybody, it's insane! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by... crazy. To mark the Christmas season, it's a family tradition to go to the pantomime every year. This year we went to go and see Beauty and the Beast! We got dressed up all fancy - I wore a Great Gatsby-esque sparkly top and a skirt - and Thorfinn took fancy to mean joggy bottoms and a t-shirt. Boys am I right? I was especially excited this year because I could finally order a drink at the bar at the Pantomime! It made me feel like such a mature adult being dressed up all nice, knowing all the inappropriate jokes, and sipping my vodka and coke. Sooo cool 😅 They did ID me twice though as I was trying to get my drink... very annoying. The first lady asked if she could see my ID, looked at it, and then walked away and proceeded to ignore me. The second lady then finally noticed that I was still standing at the bar staring at them and asked for my ID again 🙃 Claire and I agreed that she sounded a bit Dutch.

The actual show was really really funny though. They did a part with a flying car, food puns, and also threw a child into the audience (he was planted in the show obviously). It was all around just really funny, and I enjoyed shouting out all the classic Pantomime sayings like "Oh no you don't" and "Oh yes you are" and also the "boooos" that you give as soon as you see the bad guy.

After the Panto, Hayley, Corrie, and I were dropped off at the Caley Picture House, which is a Wetherspoons, where we (me and Corrie) shared a pitcher of the Porn-star Cocktail and ate pizza and chips.

After that, we took a wander down to the Princes street Christmas Market where Corrie and I found some more alcohol - yay! We had a Bailey's Hot Chocolate, which was really good, but flippin' expensive - not so good. Then, after standing drinking that for about 15 minutes, we realised that the Edinburgh Torchlight Procession was on that night for Hogmanay (we didn't have tickets though so we couldn't go to it). I was super excited to maybe catch a glimpse of it... until I realised that they were closing off all of Princes street for it. I guess the alcohol had gotten to mine and Corrie's head by that point (I don't know what Hayley's excuse was) but we didn't really realise what closing down the whole street meant. Oops. Anyway, so it wasn't until after we decided to get the bus back that it finally hit us what closing the street meant. No more buses. At all. It wasn't really that bad because we could go and take the train from Waverly Station, but the only problem was that we had just walked all the way to the other end of Princes Street to find the bus. So more walking for us! In high heels... 😤

Overall it was a really fun night out. It wasn't crazy or anything, just nice spending time with everybody and having some good quality laughs. Since it's New Year's Eve tonight, I'll be posting another blog either tonight or tomorrow about that and also a recap of everything I've accomplished this year, as well as resolutions I hope to do next year :) Happy New Year's Eve everybody!
